Our mission

Azulite Glasses mission is to improve the digital lives of as many people as possible. At Azulite Glasses we are very passionate about helping people and their digital life. As a small business, we wanted to start with supplying Azulite Glasses and educating the public about the importance of blue light glasses in this modern age filled with technology. However, in the future, we have a vision to give back to charities and have partnerships to make further impact and to improve lives. We also are continuing to work towards a sustainable future through our products, packaging and shipping. By committing ourselves to make Azulite Glasses as sustainable as possible, we can make a difference.

Our Quality

We pride ourselves in the quality of our glasses. They are tested to block blue light emitted from screens and have a sturdy frame.

What is blue light?

Blue light is on the lower end of the visible spectrum with a wavelength between 400 and 450 nanometres (nm). As the name suggests, this type of light is perceived as blue in colour, however, blue light can be present even when light is perceived as white or another colour. Artificial blue high-energy visible (HEV) light is emitted from places like computers, phones, and television screens. Blue light is of concern because it has more energy per photon of light than other colours in the spectrum. Therefore, at high enough doses blue light is likely to cause damage when absorbed by various cells in our body. Certain strains of this blue light can impact your sleep schedule and potentially cause eye strain and fatigue. Azulite glasses are an amazing way to protect your eyes, as the lens filters out this artificial blue light emitted from digital screens.

  • Eye Strain

The Vision Council reports that 61% of adults experience digital eye strain due to the prolonged use of electronic devices. After prolonged use, our vision can be affected by eyestrain, dry and irritated eyes, blurry vision and headaches.

  • Sleep

Bluelight stimulates the circadian clock and disrupts your sleep because it signals your brain to wake up when it should be winding down by suppressing melatonin. This ultimately can result in a number of negative health consequences such as the increased risk of sleep disturbance, obesity, diabetes mellitus, ischaemic heart disease, stroke, depression and cancer.

  • Phototoxicity

Almost all blue light passes straight through to the back of your retina, increasing the risk of macular degeneration, a disease of the retina. Meanwhile, blue light causes photochemical damage to the retina, and may be associated with age-related macular degeneration.

Why you need Azulite glasses?

The role of technology in our modern lifestyles means our eyes are exposed to artificial blue light for many hours a day due to the screens we spend so much time in front of. The best way to reduce your exposure to blue light as well as reduce eye fatigue caused by digital devices is to get digital protection with your glasses. Azulite glasses have metal hinges and a strong frame for durability, with lenses that block out this artificial blue light in order to protect your eyes.

Where do we get our name from?

‘Azul’ originates from Spanish roots, translating to blue in Spanish and it represents reliability and constancy. So, with Azulite Glasses you can rely on us to provide sustainable, protective, and stylish
eyewear for your everyday needs.

What other ways can you protect yourself from blue
light?

Azulite Glasses are a great way to protect yourself from the harmful effects of blue light, however, we understand that not everyone can buy these glasses. So, here are some other ways to protect yourself
and your eyes:

  • Allow your eyes to rest. After 20 minutes of being exposed to blue light, whether that be
from your TV, computer or phone, look at something in a distance for around 20
seconds. This will help eye fatigue whilst you’re using a digital device, but keep in mind
that this will not stop the potential long-term effects of blue light that digital protection lenses can protect you from.
  • Ensure that you are getting regular eye examinations as they will help you detect certain eye conditions and having your vision corrected can improve the quality of your day-to-day life.
  • Avoid using technology for at least two hours prior to going to sleep. Since blue light disturbs sleeping patterns, it is extremely important to not expose yourself to blue light without blue light blocking glasses before going to sleep
